Fruitful Cash
What’s Fruitful Cash?
Fruitful Cash is a 5.00% APY1 cash account. You earn interest on all your money, whether you plan to save or spend it. It’s the best of both worlds - the high earnings of a savings account with the flexibility of a traditional checking account.
What does APY mean?
APY stands for Annual Percentage Yield — a fancy way of expressing the real rate of return earned on your cash over a period of time (one year in this case) inclusive of the wonderful impact of compounding. Compounding - sometimes referred to as “interest on interest” - takes into account your deposits as well as accumulated interest over a period of time.
Will the interest rate lock in, or does it change?
The interest rate and corresponding APY (Annual Percentage Yield) for Fruitful Cash Accounts are variable and set at our discretion. Interest rates may change at any time including after account opening without prior notice. This is based on a number of factors - the primary being the Federal Funds Rate. We’re motivated to provide members with as competitive a rate as possible. When the Fed, or Emigrant Bank, increases or decreases their interest rate, we increase or decrease ours.
How is the interest on my account paid?
Interest compounds daily and is calculated on a 365 day (or 366 day if a leap year) basis. Interest is credited to your Fruitful Cash Account on a monthly basis.
Is my money safe?

Fruitful Card
What’s Fruitful Card?
Fruitful Card is a secured charge card tied directly to your Fruitful Cash Account, making it easy to spend responsibly. Your transactions are reflected in your available cash balance, and since you can’t spend more than what’s in your account, you’re always in control. Plus, you’ll earn up to 2% cash back2 on every purchase—without any interest or carry-over balance to worry about.
What’s a secured charge card?
A secured charge card is a type of credit card where your spending is capped by the amount of cash you hold, in this case, in a Fruitful Cash Account and is paid off in full at the end of each month. This means your available cash balance reflects your spending activity and you never carry over a credit balance or get charged interest. But you’re also able to access rewards – in our case, up to 2.00% cash back2 on all of your purchases. It’s sort of the best of both worlds. It’s responsible and reward-filled!
How does Fruitful Card work?
When you open a Fruitful Cash account and get a Fruitful Card, the amount you deposit becomes your spending limit—just like the credit limit on a regular credit card.
As you use your Fruitful Card, your spending is reflected in your available cash balance. The funds you spend are then set aside in your Fruitful Cash Account, ensuring that your statement balance is covered at the end of the month. This way, you’re always spending within your means, with no surprises.
How do I earn 2.00% cash back?
Simple! Just set up and route a direct deposit to one or multiple Fruitful Cash accounts totaling $2,000 or more in the prior month. If you haven’t, you’ll still earn 1% cash back on all your spending.
How is it different than a standard credit card?
The Fruitful Card is a secured credit card, not a typical credit card that bases eligibility on credit worthiness, allows you to rack up debt, or carry over a balance. If you have a Fruitful Cash Account, you're eligible—no credit checks needed, and no risk of debt or a carry over balance. Your spending limit is based on your Fruitful Cash Account balance, working like a credit limit without needing to load funds separately onto the card.
Every time you make a purchase using Fruitful Card, money is set aside in your Fruitful Cash Account, putting that money on hold to cover transactions and ensuring you only spend what you have. When you buy something or spend money, it’s reflected in your cash balance, so you always have an accurate, real-time view of your finances. The reserved funds set aside in your account are then used to pay off the statement balance in full every month.
That means you get great rewards but never have to worry about a carry-over balance or being charged interest. You score rewards while spending responsibly!
